He was born January 15, 1871, in Mattoon, Ill., moving to Kansas in 1898. He was married in 1913 to Myrtle Nitzsche and since 1917 had made his home in Rossville. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Martinek of Rossville and Mrs. Alice Gentry of Topeka; two sons, George Diehl of Rossville and Earl Diehl, radarman 3/c, serving in the Navy; a stepson, Ralph Nitzsche of Turon, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Ina Marney of Rossville, and seven grandchildren.
